The international news industry and Ukrainian national consciousness

Abstract

This thesis examines the impact of national consciousness on the perception of international news in Ukraine. It was found that national consciousness has a significant impact on how Ukrainians perceive international news. Cultural and historical aspects of Ukrainian national consciousness influence how Ukrainians perceive international news related to Russia, Europe, and other countries. Geopolitical situation and relations with other countries also influence how Ukrainians perceive international news. Education and media education play an important role in shaping Ukrainian national consciousness. They can also help think critically about the information they receive from the media.
