Ivan Bagryany's dramatic work: problems, artistic specificity

Abstract

In the qualifying work, the artistic features of Ivan Bagryany's dramatic work were investigated. In the first chapter, the peculiarities of drama as a kind of literature are highlighted, the conditions and trends of the development of drama in the Ukrainian diaspora are defined. In addition, the problem of dramaturgical production of Ukrainian emigrants is considered and its main thematic orientations are determined. The second chapter reveals the debunking of the Soviet myth in the dramatic story "Morituri", a communist utopia about the greatness of the Soviet Union, its optimistic and bright future. In the third chapter, such dramatic works of Ivan Bagryany are analyzed: "The Defeat", "The General". The problems of these works are defined, as well as artistic specificity: genre, plot, compositional, stylistic features. It has been proved that the problematic of the mentioned dramatic works is aimed at exposing the problems of the modern era of Soviet totalitarianism and German fascism for I. Bagryany.
